The hyoid bone is an U-shaped bone which is located in the upper neck, just under the |skull|. Generally, it is considered one of the bones of the |skull|, as it is attached with ~ligaments~ and muscles to the |styloid processes| and facilitates movement of the head. The hyoid bone is the only bone in the body which is not directly connected to another bone.
